Fronius App Tutorial: Tracking Solar Production on Your Phone

Fast read

The Fronius Solar.web app allows homeowners to track solar production, household consumption and grid energy flow in real time. The main dashboard displays three key numbers: solar generation, home usage and grid imports or exports. Historical graphs show how solar production and consumption change throughout the day. Installing a Fronius Smart Meter enables full monitoring of energy flows and improves the accuracy of the app’s insights.

What Does the Fronius App Show You?

The Fronius Solar.web app allows you to monitor your solar system in real time using your smartphone. When you open the app, the main screen typically shows an overview dashboard with energy flow between your solar panels, your home and the electricity grid.

This live display helps you see exactly how your system is performing at any given moment. It shows whether your solar panels are powering your home, exporting excess electricity to the grid or whether you are importing electricity from the grid.

Understanding this dashboard is the first step in making sure your solar system is working correctly and delivering the savings you expect.

What Are the Three Most Important Numbers?

There are three key values that appear on the main screen of the Fronius app.

Production shows how much electricity your solar panels are generating at that moment. On a sunny day this number will be high, while in the evening or during cloudy conditions it will be lower.

Consumption shows how much electricity your home is using at that same moment. Turning on appliances such as kettles, air conditioners or ovens will cause this number to increase.

Grid flow shows whether electricity is being exported or imported. If energy is flowing toward the grid, you are exporting excess solar generation. If energy is flowing toward your home, your solar system is not producing enough power and the grid is supplying the difference.

How Do You View Your Solar History?

The Fronius app also allows you to review past performance using the analysis or energy balance section. This section displays graphs showing how much energy your system produced and how much electricity your home used.

These graphs usually show a daily solar generation curve that rises in the morning, peaks around midday and falls again in the evening. By comparing this curve with your home’s energy usage, you can see when your household used solar power directly and when electricity was exported to the grid.

Viewing this data over days, months or even years can help you understand your energy patterns and identify opportunities to increase solar self-consumption.

Why Might Some Data Be Missing?

Some Fronius systems only show solar production but do not display household consumption or grid export information. This usually means a Fronius Smart Meter has not been installed.

The Smart Meter measures electricity flowing in and out of your home and sends that data to the app. Without it, the system can only report solar generation and cannot accurately track how energy moves between the house and the grid.

Another common issue occurs when the inverter loses its Wi-Fi connection. If this happens, the app may show outdated data or indicate that the system is offline. Reconnecting the inverter to your home internet typically resolves the problem.
