About

Des Shead and Kerry Nicholson established Shead and Nicholson in 1967 after finishing their electrical apprenticeships and deciding to go into business together. For the first two years, the firm operated out of Kerry's backyard, with both of their wives, Glenese Nicholson and Jan Shead, handling the bookkeeping.

Initially, most of their time was spent on domestic wiring, but they ultimately moved on to pump repairs and motor rewinding.

As the company grew, Kerry and Des hired their first employee and relocated to a larger space, constructing the store at 2 Forester Street, where it still operates today.

Des and Kerry retired on April 1, 2009, after 42 years in the company, and Phill Gale was appointed General Manager. Shead and Nicholson now employs 19, including administrative and sales personnel. 

Shead and Nicholson have built a solid working relationship with their local community over the years by doing a variety of high quality jobs. They have also always sponsored and donated to the local society and organisations. 

This is their method of thanking the community that has supported them from the beginning.
