In order to serve the local Maryborough population, which at the time was considerably smaller, “Nutty” Watkins, a local sparky who operated the business alongside his wife, founded Watkins Electrical in 1951.

He was joined by a few staff and the occasional apprentice at the time. Nutty was known for his excellent service and commitment to perfection.

After managing the company for nearly 30 years, Watkins transferred ownership to one of his workers in 1977. This worker and his wife continued to run the company as a husband and wife-team until 1997.

After this time, the business was passed on to Peter, the son of the husband and wife team steadily growing the business.

Over the past 20 years, they’ve expanded the firm to a second physical location in Hervey Bay and hired a team of about 20 employees. Due to the growth of our business, they are now able to provide both commercial and residential clients with a wide range of services.

All this has been accomplished while maintaining the high calibre of work that Nutty was renowned for all those years ago.
