Early in 2012, Smart Commercial Solar was developed from modest beginnings. From his kitchen table, Huon launched the company with a solid concept and a spreadsheet.

Huon made the audacious decision to launch his own commercial solar company at a time when subsidies were being reduced, solar prices were still relatively high, and there was little uptake in the commercial sector.

This commitment and enthusiasm have shaped Smart's business structure and drawn some of the best brains in the business to the team.

The company began concentrating on the regions where businesses were most negatively impacted by rising electricity rates.

While expanding their personnel and capabilities, cleverly aided businesses in regional NSW offset some of the highest network prices in Australia.
