1. Upfront Installation Rebate

  • Rebate Amount: $1,600–$2,400

NSW Solar Battery Rebate Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the rebate:

  • You must have existing solar panels installed.
  • Available to all NSW homes and businesses—no matter the size.
  • Your battery’s nominal capacity should be between 2 kWh and 28 kWh.
  • Installation must be done by an Accredited Certificate Provider (ACP).
  • The program is open from 1 November 2024 onward.

How Is the Rebate Calculated?

  1. Battery Installation: Install an approved battery (2 kWh–28 kWh) with an accredited provider.
  2. PRC Generation: The rebate depends on how many Peak Reduction Certificates (PRCs) your battery generates.
  3. Rebate Amount: PRCs are multiplied by the current market price (around $2.38 per certificate).
  4. Extra Incentives: Earn an extra $250–$400 for connecting to a VPP.

Eligible Batteries for the NSW Solar Battery Rebate

To qualify:

  • Must be on the Clean Energy Council’s (CEC) approved list.
  • Usable capacity between 2 kWh and 28 kWh.
  • Third-party controllable (for VPP integration).
  • 10-year warranty with at least 70% capacity retention after 10 years.
  • Must guarantee minimum energy throughput of 2.8 MWh per 1 kWh installed.
  • Operating temperature range: -10°C to 50°C.
